Naturally, I went in determined to make an outfit so I had an excuse to buy it!
I was actually supposed to be going to the department store to buy a birthday present for my husband. Well, me looking lovely for his birthday should be a great present!
I bought some sweet tweedy shorts, a blue bead embellished bat sleeve top, a faux leather frill skirt, and a black chiffon blouse.
Japanese second hand shops are very very nice. They won't take in anything with bobbling/pilling or old ratty looking material. A lot of it is brand clothing, and moderately priced too. These four pieces came to about $30.
I paired the first outfit with a gold and black chunky necklace and Cecil McBee shoes, (although riding boots could work too, or wellies)
The second outfit I matched with an embellished elasticated belt and Comme ca ism anke boots
This third outfit I used the shorts from the first outfit and the top from the second, with a jolly Barbour scarf and some Kurt Geiger heels.
I think these outfits would look very classy with opaque black tights.
My final outfit is the black tiered chiffon blouse with the frilly faux leather skirt. There's a lot ot frill going on here so I chose simple accessories, and the skirt has enough fauxness for all of it so I chose real pearls, a necklace and a bracelet small and understated elegance! The flat pumps are from Clarkes and I thought the patent leather matched nicely with the skirt.
Tights that I don't have. Must buy tights!
My husbands birthday cake. Now this, has no class at all. A home-made monstrosity cake. A chocolate and whip covered cookies and icecream sandwich monstrosity cake. It's currently in the freezer setting like a rock. Can't wait to see him attempt to eat it!
